Advisory Services

Audit provides advisory services when a department requests a review or advice. 

Advisory services tend to be highly focused and less comprehensive and resource intensive than an internal audit. 

The decision to provide an advisory service is usually based on the potential to improve management practices, assess risks, add value, and improve an organization’s operations. 

Advisory services may include:

  • risk and control assessments including related systems;
  • review of revised and/or new corporate or departmental policies, before and after implementation;
  • governance, organizational or program reviews;
  • internal control reviews to assist in process improvements; and
  • reviews of business plans, financial projections and forecasts, and capital project plans and budgets.
