Executive Council Office

Yukon Forum

The Yukon Forum was created to formalize the government-to-government relationship between the Government of Yukon and the self-governing Yukon First Nations.

In October 2003, the Yukon's Premier, the Grand Chief of the Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) and the Chiefs of self-governing Yukon First Nations entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Governance in Yukon.

Yukon Forum includes:

  • Yukon Premier;
  • Grand Chief of Council of Yukon First Nations; and
  • Chiefs of Yukon First Nations that have entered into Final and Self-Government Agreements.

The Cooperation in Governance Act recognizes that First Nation and Yukon governments both have jurisdiction and authority over many similar matters. The Yukon Forum is the place for dialogue among these governments, to encourage cooperation and collaboration in governance within Yukon's boundaries.

The Yukon Forum is expected to meet four times per year.
