Mandate

The functions of the Pharmacy Advisory Committee are to, at the request of the Registrar of Pharmacists

Advise on:
  •  The standards of practice of pharmacist and the standards of practice of rural permit holders,
  • the code of ethics of pharmacists and the code of ethics of rural permit holders,
  • requirements for registration,
  • actions to be taken in relation to complaints of unprofessional conduct,
  • the composition of the discipline committee,
  • information to be provided to the public about the functions and areas of knowledge, skill and judgement of registrants, the standards of practice of pharmacists, the standards of practice of rural permit holders, the code of pharmacists and the code of ethics of rural permit holders, and
  • any other matters relating to regulation of the practice of pharmacy;
Review applications for registration and licences and for the renewal and reinstatement of registrations and licences and provide advice about them;
Participate in national initiatives related to the practice of pharmacy and provide feedback on those initiatives to the Registrar of Pharmacists; and
Perform any other tasks related to the purposes of the Act.

Membership: Consists of at least 3 members- 1 of whom is appointed as Chair.

Appointment Process: Ministerial Appointment

Requirements: At least, 3 members must be pharmacists or individuals who are each eligible to be a pharmacist.
