June 2019 Whitehorse Consumer Price Index

  • Comparing June 2019 to June 2018, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 2.4% in Whitehorse (data are not available for Yukon). Whitehorse’s year-over-year CPI change for the month of June was 0.4
    percentage points higher than that for Canada (2.0%).
  • The year-over-year increase in Whitehorse CPI for the month of June 2019 was mainly attributable to price increases in: rent; fresh vegetables; and mortgage interest cost. Some of these increases were offset by
    price decreases in: gasoline; household appliances; and women’s clothing.
  • On a monthly basis, the CPI in Whitehorse increased 0.9% in June 2019 compared to May 2019; nationally, the CPI decreased 0.2%.

On an annual average basis, the CPI in Whitehorse in 2018 increased by 2.4%; Canada’s 2018 annual average CPI increased by 2.3%.
