March 2012 Whitehorse Consumer Price Index
- Comparing March 2012 to March 2011, prices increased by 2.6% in Whitehorse (figures not available for Yukon).
- Whitehorse’s inflation rate was 0.7 percentage points higher than the overall inflation rate for Canada.
- Prices in Whitehorse increased in the areas of rent; fuel oil and other fuels; and gasoline. These increases were partially offset by decreases in women’s clothing; recreational equipment and services (excluding recreational vehicles); and fresh vegetables.
- On a monthly basis, the CPI in Whitehorse increased 0.9% between February and March 2012.
- In 2011, the annual inflation rate for Whitehorse was 3.0% and was 2.9% for Canada overall.
