July 2018 Whitehorse Consumer Price Index

  • Comparing July 2018 to July 2017, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 3.7% in Whitehorse (data are not available for Yukon). Whitehorse’s year-over-year CPI change for the month of July was 0.7 percentage points higher than the change for Canada (3.0%).
  • The increase in Whitehorse CPI was mainly attributable to price increases in: gasoline; inter-city transportation; and fuel oil and other fuels. Some of these increases were offset by price decreases in: telephone services; furniture; and recreational equipment and services (excluding recreational vehicles).
  • On a monthly basis, the CPI in Whitehorse increased 0.7% between June 2018 and July 2018; nationally, the CPI increased 0.5%.

On an annual average basis, the CPI in Whitehorse in 2017 increased by 1.7%; Canada’s annual average CPI increased by 1.6%.
