Retail sales

Retail sales statistics are taken from the Monthly Retail Trade Survey, one of several business surveys conducted by Statistics Canada. It generates estimates that measure the economic activity of Canada.

Monthly retail sales data are included in our Monthly Statistical Review.

February 2012 Yukon Retail Sales

  • Preliminary estimates for retail sales in Yukon for February 2012 were $43,750,000 (seasonally unadjusted figures). This number represents an increase of $3,476,000 or 8.6% from the February 2011 figure.
  • Nationally, retail sales increased by 7.8% for the same time period.
  • On an annual basis, 2011 revised seasonally unadjusted retail sales in Yukon totalled $662,233,000 – a record high. This represents an increase of $63,204,000, or 10.6%, compared to 2010.
  • Nationally, Canada’s 2011 retail sales increased by 4.1% compared to 2010.
