Retail sales

Retail sales statistics are taken from the Monthly Retail Trade Survey, one of several business surveys conducted by Statistics Canada. It generates estimates that measure the economic activity of Canada.

Monthly retail sales data are included in our Monthly Statistical Review.

December 2017 Yukon Retail Sales

  • The preliminary estimate (seasonally unadjusted) for retail sales in Yukon for December 2017 was $66.5 million, an increase of $2.3 million, or 3.5%, compared to December 2016. The December 2017 retail sales figure increased $314,000, or 0.5% compared to November 2017.
  • Nationally, preliminary retail sales (seasonally unadjusted) increased 3.2% in December 2017 compared to December 2016, and increased 3.9% compared to November 2017.

On a preliminary annual basis, retail sales (seasonally unadjusted) in Yukon totalled $787.3 million. This represents an increase of $42.5 million, or 5.7%, compared to 2016 ($744.8 million). Canada’s preliminary annual retail sales increased 6.7% over this time period.
