Retail sales

Retail sales statistics are taken from the Monthly Retail Trade Survey, one of several business surveys conducted by Statistics Canada. It generates estimates that measure the economic activity of Canada.

Monthly retail sales data are included in our Monthly Statistical Review.

November 2016 Yukon Retail Sales

  • The preliminary unadjusted estimate for retail sales in Yukon for November 2016 was $59.4 million. This represents an increase of $5.1 million, or 9.4% compared to November 2015, and a decrease of $773,000, or 1.3%, compared to October 2016.
  • Nationally, retail sales (unadjusted) increased 6.0% in November 2016 compared to November 2015, and increased 3.4% compared to October 2016.
  • On a year-to-date basis (January to November), unadjusted retail sales in Yukon totalled $671.2 million. This represents an increase of $39.1 million, or 6.2%, compared to the same time period in 2015 ($632.1 million). Canada’s year-to-date retail sales increased 3.6% over this time period.

On an annual basis, unadjusted retail sales for 2015 in Yukon totalled $692.2 million. This represents an increase of $31.3 million, or 4.7%, compared to 2014 ($660.9 million). Canada’s retail sales increased 1.7% compared to 2014.
