The Commission’s mandate is to:
The Commission conducts education and research on the principle of equal pay for work of equal value in the private sector. The Commission is accountable to the Legislature.
Authority: Human Rights Act, section 16
Period: 1987 to present
The Commission consists of a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 members. A member may only be removed from office by resolution of the Legislature.
Appointments to this Committee are subject to standing order 45 of the Legislative Assembly.
Appointment process: Legislative appointment
Requirements: No legislated criteria required to join. A strong interest in human rights and knowledge of administrative law would be an asset. The composition of the board would ideally represent Yukon's diversity.
Term: 3 years.
Meetings: 16 meetings a year.
